His client compensation is strictly hourly based, not as a percentage of assets. As the law firm’s administrator, he manages all aspects of the firm’s accounting including investments, asset management, receivables, payables, payroll and tax accounting. Besides his family first, he has three personal passions: Community, Libraries and Music! Community: For 35 plus years as a resident of Lowell, Chuck served on multiple local community boards, City of Lowell municipal boards and commissions. These included: Lowell’s Arts Council, Historical Society, Showboat Corporation, Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. As the former Mayor of Lowell, he completed 17 years of prior city service on Lowell’s City Council, where he was publicly elected to serve four consecutive terms, also volunteering on the City’s Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Commission, Lowell Cable TV Company, and Lowell’s Building Authority. Libraries: Climbing the steps to take his young daughter to Lowell’s library located in a historic home (now the Lowell Area Historical Association’s location), where the children’s area was literally a former closet in the building, he decided Lowell deserved a better library. That led him and countless others on the path to fundraising, site acquisition, construction planning and building completion of a new library for Lowell. His passion for literacy further led him to an over 20-year commitment to Kent District Library (KDL), where he has served as a board member and Chair on two separate occasions and held the office for multiple terms. Music: Charles/Chuck/Chaz has also served on the West Michigan Blues Society Board for over five years and served as Board Treasurer. Always there to promote the Blues, he performs often with local Blues bands, has been a musician in the West Michigan Blues Society Blues in the Schools programs, and he developed and performs his own Blues History program. Through Spectrum Health’s Better Breathers respiratory program, he volunteers as a “Harmonica Instructor” for COPD patients. Research shows the instrument helps improve breathing function and lung capacity.
