EXPERIENCED - TRUSTED - EXCELLENT ESTATE PLANNING

Noreen K. Myers, J.D.

Member of the Michigan State Bar since 1984

I have practiced law in West Michigan as a member in good standing of the Michigan Bar Association and membership in the Probate and Estate Planning section since 1984. After graduating from Grand Valley State University, I performed graduate work at Loyola University in Chicago and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and then obtained my law degree from Thomas Cooley School of Law.

Strongly motivated by the ethic of community service, I have been involved in numerous non-profit service organizations including Lowell Area Arts Council and Flat River Outreach Ministries, among many others.

For the past several years, I am proud of the significant role I’ve played in contributing to Grand Valley State University through an eight-year term serving on the Board of Trustees from 2004-2011, a trustee of the Grand Valley State University Foundation, Chairperson of the Hauenstein Center’s Common Ground Initiative and serving as a mentor in the Cook Leadership Academy. I’m looking forward to continue serving another term on the Board of Trustees now that I’ve been reappointed by Governor Whitmer.

Growing up in the northern Michigan community of Baldwin as one of four daughters, I continue to enjoy time at my family cottage on Big Star Lake. My grandfather started the bank in our village and my family, including my husband, has been engaged in banking for four generations. In addition to having several bankers in my family, I am one of seven  proud GVSU graduates.

My husband and I have two daughters: Melissa who works for Wells Fargo Wealth Management in Grand Rapids, and, Kelsay who  has recently started her own business, Dialogical Persona Healing Arts as she finishes her doctorate.

In addition to spending time with our family, my husband and I enjoy road trips to places as varied as Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; Key West, Florida; San Francisco, California; Washington D.C and the New England area. As a voracious reader, I belong to several book clubs, and my husband often complains about the presence of too many piles of books throughout our home. As a person with no musical skills, I’m fortunate to be able to participate as a happy spectator in my husband’s musical endeavors.

Charles R. Myers, CSA

Certified Senior Advisor and Financial Administrator

After leaving a 30 year banking and investment career, Chuck attained his certification to open a private practice advising seniors with comprehensive investment and financial decision-making, guiding them through the complexities unique to this life stage. His client compensation is strictly hourly based, not as a percentage of assets. As the law firm’s administrator, he manages all aspects of the firm’s accounting including investments, asset management, receivables, payables, payroll and tax accounting.

Besides his family first, he has three personal passions: Community, Libraries and Music!

Chuck’s passion for the community of Lowell has long been enduring. For 30 plus years as a resident of Lowell, he served on multiple local community boards and City of Lowell municipal boards and commissions. These included: Lowell’s Arts Council, Historical Society, Showboat Corporation, Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. As the former Mayor of the City of Lowell, he completed 17 prior years of city service on Lowell’s City Council, where he was publicly elected to serve four consecutive terms, the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Commission, Lowell Cable TV Company, and until recently, Lowell’s Building Authority.

Climbing the steps to take his young daughter to Lowell’s library located in a historic home (now the Lowell Area Historical Association’s location), where the children’s area was literally a former closet in the building, he decided Lowell deserved a better library. That led him and countless others on the path to fundraising, site acquisition, construction planning and building completion of a new library for Lowell. His passion for literacy further led him to an over 20 year commitment to Kent District Library (KDL), where he has served as a board member and Chair on two separate occasions, and held the office for multiple terms.

Charles/Chuck/Chaz has also served on the West Michigan Blues Society Board for over five years and is currently the Board Treasurer. He picked up his first instrument at age ten, a harmonica gift from his older brother. While enjoying the 60’s and 70’s rock and roll music, he later understood that “the Blues had a baby and they called it Rock and Roll,” which made him realize his real music genre passion is the “Blues.” Always there to promote the Blues, he performs often with local Blues bands, he has been a musician in the West Michigan Blues Society Blues in the Schools programs and developed and performs his own Blues History program. Through Spectrum Health’s Better Breathers respiratory program, he volunteers as a Harmonica instructor for COPD patients. Research shows the instrument helps improve breathing function and capacity. Paying tribute to his history as former Mayor, he now gets introduced on the stage as Chaz Bluez, the “MAYOR OF THE BLUES.”
